Hiking boots...

I am really poor at throwing away old stuff...
Especially stuff that I have grown to love... to cherish...

And this pair of hiking boots is certainly one of those 'difficult-to-throw-away' stuff, even thought it is worn out...

These boots had accompanied me to Mt. Fuji, twice...
I walked many a hill, most often than not, solo, at Nagano, Gifu, and Aichi Prefectures when I was a graduate student at Nagoya University in the 1990s...

My sweeto haato says, 'you cannot bring them to your grave when you kick the bucket... better to off-load one's belongings as we age... go light-weight...'
Good advice, no doubt... but still...
Perhaps I can try to be imaginative and convert them into 'flower pots' for my garden later on...

  1. Mt fuji is really great. I'll try it someday but I have never tried it.

  2. Few reasons can see why you still keep.
A sentimental person will keep his/her things long but not for many. Keep it up!

  4. Hahaha, i am like you, so i have lots of baggage! I keep everything thinking they might be handy in the future, till they rot and ugly, and that's the time i will throw them! Some underprivileged construction workers will be willing to get them, i know, but don't know how they get to them! anyway, i saw some blogs who used them as planters and they look gorgeous. Oh i remember once when i told my sister that my old shoes has been so good to me, but i can't just dispose it easily, as still good. This is her advice, "leave it at the front door when it is raining, pretend that you forgot it there, it only takes a night". after that it is easy to throw them out.

  6. I can sympathize with you on that Lrong. Its the confortable, practical, functional and durable pieces that I have grown attached to and it doesn't matter how old/rugged looking they are now. Flower pot is a good idea. Good luck on that.

  7. The boots are like my terracotta flower planter!! I bought one boot at a market in an English town. So that's an idea!
Coincidentally, just made a new friend who comes from Nagano Prefecture. Have a good day!

  8. They have sentimental value in them, and a history with you so it's not easy to let go. Maybe you can keep them in a corner somewhere, or use them as the flower pots like you said.

  9. I've got a pair of hiking boots that look as well-worn as yours. I'm still using my boots for hiking, but I do think they would make good flower pots.

É uma excelente ideia plantar flores nelas... nunca tinha pensado nisso... converter botas em vasos de flores.
    Boa semana!
